Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate is a city in the southern part of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Its enormous Taourirt Kasbah, home to a 19th-century palace, commands views of the surrounding rocky landscape, which has featured in several films. To the northwest lies the red-earth fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou, while the rocky Todra Gorge lies to the northeast. A road winds southeast through the lush palm groves of the Draa Valley toward the desert.
